Pannar Hybrid Achieves First by F.I.R.S.T.
A cornerstone to the Pannar breeding program has been its genetic research of hybrids for the geographic area of the Dakotas and Minnesota. Just how good a job Pannar has done in developing seed for the region was validated by the recent release of
results by F.I.R.S.T.
Topping the performance summary in their South Dakota testing region was a Pannar corn hybrid. F.I.R.S.T., or the Farmer’s Independent Research of Seed Technologies, is considered the nation’s premier third party resource for performance data.
As Pannar CEO Barry Brown notes, it’s a tremendous achievement for a seed company to even make the top 10 or 20 listing by F.I.R.S.T. But to be number one? “It’s very gratifying. But it also validates what we’ve said all along,” says Brown. “That our seed products truly are bred and selected for this geography—Dakotas and Minnesota.”
The plots planted by F.I.R.S.T. are in multiple replications, with comprehensive and applicable information generated for growers. The test that had Pannar topping the charts was part of a yield and gross income summary with 54 hybrids in it.
